The Whitley Top is a classic woven top pattern with multiple options to make it your own. It comes with three different sleeve lengths, two necklines (round neck and v-neck) and four different cup size brackets (A-B, C-D, E-F, G-H) making it fully customisable to your shape and style.
Our Whitley Top has been designed to be a staple in your everyday wardrobe. It is simple to make and simple to fit as well as being a great project to test your sewing skills on!
Join Becca as she takes you through all the steps to sewing up our Whitley Top, sharing all her hints and tips along the way! You’ll be learning how to handle woven fabrics, all about facings and putting in sleeves in the round. It’s a great first project for beginners or a satisfying quick sew for more experienced sewers.
Once you’ve made the Whitley Top you’ll have a great woven block that’s perfect for some pattern hacking and customisation! Shorten the bodice for a cute cropped loose fitting top, or perhaps lengthen into a floaty shift dress. We’ll be bringing out tutorials on how to hack your Whitley Top over the next few months – the possibilities are endless!
You can make your Whitley Top up in a range of woven fabrics: cotton lawns are great for beginners, but the Whitley also works in viscoses and crepes for those who are feeling more adventurous or would like a top with more drape. It’s a great base to show off vibrant prints but would also work as a classic plain top to add to a capsule wardrobe. You can find the fabric requirements for the Whitley Top here.
The Whitley Dress PDF sewing pattern is sized between UK sizes 8-20. See the chart for details on fabric requirements.
Like all our patterns, the sizes are nested to make it easier to grade between the sizes, depending on your measurements.
This project includes:
- printable pattern (in both tiled print-at-home and copyshop format)
- fully-illustrated printable instruction booklet
- imperial/metric conversion size chart

So what is a PDF pattern?
A PDF pattern is a downloadable pattern that you print yourself at home. Simply download, print, tape together and let the sewing begin! When you print the pattern, print at 100% (you might have to uncheck the scale box). Print page 1 first, the square should measure 10cm x 10cm.
